The leading role at the DXT, as in any sporting competition, undoubtedly belongs to the athletes — but the driving force behind the event is the more than 300 tireless people who lend their precious work, vehicles and facilities to make such a logistically complex event possible: our extraordinary volunteers.
The support of the valley's population and surrounding areas was immediate and considerable, perhaps fostered by the inclination of small mountain communities towards communal work and mutual aid, once essential for living in a harsh territory like the Alps. What was once a necessity today becomes an opportunity to strengthen old bonds and create new ones, to take part in a shared project and a moment of celebration.
The tasks volunteers carry out are many and varied, not limited to the days of the competition and often hidden from most people's eyes, but their work is united by exemplary dedication and spontaneous enthusiasm that leads them to go beyond merely completing an assigned task. They solve any problems that may arise on their own, propose and implement improvements, and welcome and support the athletes with a genuine warmth that certainly does not go unnoticed. Since we cannot name and thank them individually, we at least want to list the working groups that bring the Dolomiti Extreme Trail to life. To all of you, our most heartfelt thank you.
If you want to join us and experience something different and rewarding, see the world of races from another angle, support the athletes and, as part of a team, take part in a great event, fill in the form with your details and become one of the Dolomiti Extreme Trail Volunteers.
