Route description
22 kilometres of small, surprising discoveries. The most runnable of the major DXT races lets you admire the Dolomites in a different guise: high rock walls, but also an encounter with the tradition and culture of small, unique villages hidden from those who only travel the valley floor.
From the start in Forno (850 m) the route crosses the Pratoront plain and reaches Pralongo (km 3); near the little church a forest-pastoral road climbs to the Vach pond (km 6). On a steep path it continues to the scree of Vant dei Gravinai and Forcella Val Barance (1,670 m, km 9), the highest point of the course.
From here the descent begins, first on a path then on a white road, down to the Dont aid station (km 13.5). It climbs back up to Villa and, on an undulating forest-pastoral road, reaches Astragal (km 17).
A short climb and the following descent lead to Casal; the final 2 km of asphalt cross Bragarezza, Pra, Sommariva and Campo to the finish in Forno, for a total elevation gain of about 1,140 m.
